Lindsay Broadbent attended the former Coleraine High School from 2000 until 2007, where she was active in the science society.
Lindsay then went on to Queens university to study microbiology. After completing her degree she went on to study for her PhD which she was awarded
last year.
Fortunately funding was granted and Lindsay was able to continue her research into RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) which affects most children at
some time in their lives and has a direct link with asthma.
After presenting her work to a panel of judges last week in London Lindsay was awarded ‘Young Microbiologist of the Year’ by the microbiology society.
