Learning Support Team

In Coleraine Grammar School, we try to ensure all our learners are fully supported and any barriers to their learning are removed. There are various layers of support available for a variety of areas of need:

Pupils who need some support, but do not require a PLP/IEP or to be on the SEN register, can receive “Additional Support” for a short time period via Learning Support staff. This is overseen by Miss L. Magee (Head of Faculty), Mr A. Gaston (Literacy Coordinator) and Mr B. Overend (Numeracy Coordinator).

Pupils who require a higher level of support, including a PLP/IEP are overseen by Mrs S. Taggart (SENCO). Some of these pupils may also have LS for a longer time period and their PLPs/IEPs will be reviewed bi-annually. If further support for these pupils is required at any stage and with consent from parents/carers, some may be referred to EA services as well.

This support is reliant on communication between parent/carers and school staff, so please do make us aware of any concerns you have.

Please refer to our SEN policy for any other information about support for pupils in school. Alternatively, feel free to email info@colerainegrammar.com, FAO SENCO.
