“the overall objective of an effective career education and guidance programme is to enable a learner to manage their own career development successfully, confidently and with due respect and care of their own needs, those of others and of their wider communities.”

Preparing for Success (2009)

Rapid changes are taking place in the labour market driven by technological advances and global economic activity. Subsequently our pupils face challenges and choices that, in many ways, are different to previous generations.

At Coleraine Grammar School the Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme aims to equip pupils with the information handling skills, understanding, confidence, and creativity needed for their future working lives. This is done by offering a programme that includes:

  • Career Planning
  • Employability Skills
  • Work-Related Learning
  • Careers Information
  • Careers Advice and Guidance

To empower pupils to become effective career decision makers we expect them to gain skills in:

  • Self-Awareness and Development
  • Career Exploration
  • Career Management
