Saturday, March 2, 2024 – BRA U12 Tournament
Our U12 team demonstrated formidable strength and unity, emerging as joint champions in today’s BRA tournament.
During the group stages, our team awakened to their potential, outperforming the competition with a flawless record of 3 wins, no losses, and an impressive tally of 22 tries without conceding any.
The quarter final cup match against Ballyclare High was a testament to our resilience, where a physically demanding game ended in a 4-1 victory for CGS, showcasing our ability to overcome tough challenges.
Facing Campbell College in the semi final, our team sought redemption for a previous loss a few weeks ago. Despite an early setback, they showcased exceptional teamwork and skill, reversing the score to a 3-1 win with their dynamic play.
In the final against the highly-regarded Wallace team, CGS found themselves initially at a disadvantage, trailing 2-0. However, the team’s spirit and determination shone through as they fought back, overcoming injuries and challenges to end the match in a 3-3 draw, standing strong as the more dominant team.
The tournament was a display of outstanding rugby from every member of the squad, highlighting a bright future ahead for the team.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Stewart for his support during the trip and Mr. Blair for his visit. A special acknowledgment goes to the coaching staff for their invaluable guidance and to our supporters, whose enthusiasm and encouragement were unmatched, making them the most supportive group present.
We would also like to express our gratitude to BRA for hosting such a well-organised event and for allowing us the use of their excellent facilities. It was a fantastic experience, and we hope to replicate the same level of organisation and hospitality at our upcoming event.
Looking forward, we are excited for the NEBBSA tournament at our home ground, followed by hosting our own tournament on March 16.
