U12 Rugby Tournament 2022

YEAR 8 NEBSSA RUGBY REPORT & PICTURES – MONDAY 14/3/22 – CGS:

Coleraine Grammar School hosted the Year 8 NEBSSA Rugby Tournament on Monday 14th March on a surprisingly dry and sunny day in Coleraine. The competition was limited to 8 teams this year due to COVID restrictions but it is hoped that next year it will return to the previous format with B Teams and emerging schools participating once again. In a fantastic Cup final Ballymena Academy defeated Rainey ES by scoring a well worked try towards the end of the game to win by five tries to four in a real thriller. In the Plate Final Larne GS had a convincing win against Dalriada who showed great fight and spirit to keep it a very keenly contested game. Overall this was a really successful day and it was helped by the excellent weather conditions and great enthusiasm off all players involved. The school would like to thank all the coaches, players, parents, referees, helpers, first aiders, caterers, groundstaff and photographers for all their efforts and helping to ensure the day ran very smoothly. We would also like to send our best wishes to any players who picked up any injuries and wish them a speedy recovery. Coleraine Grammar look forward to hosting the tournament again next year and everyone is delighted to have a return to tournament rugby after a two year break!
