Swim Ulster Schools Cup and Championship

 

Last weekend, 7 CGS swimmers took part in the Swim Ulster Schools Cup & Championships 2017.

The Junior team consisted of a young team of five Yr 9 boys. The Junior category is extremely competitive and consists of boys from Yrs 8-10, with between
70-106 swimmers per event.

Highlights from this category are:

Jake came 12th and 14th overall in his 2 events – 100m Backstroke and 100m freestyle.

Matthew  came 13th in the 100m breaststroke

Lewis came 15th in 100m butterfly

The medley relay team of Jake, Matthew, Archie and Lewis combined to come 8th overall.

The freestyle relay team of Jake, Matthew, Harry and Lewis combined to come 5th overall.

Every member of this young team performed to their best with all boys achieving PBs across all events.

 

One of our Year 12 pupils was the only CGS representative In the Intermediate category (yrs 11-12). Molly came 2nd narrowly missed gold by 0.12sec
to take an Ulster silver medal in the 100m breaststroke event.

One of our year 13 pupils was the sole CGS swimmer in the Senior category. Amber came 5th and 6th overall in both backstroke
and butterfly.
