On Wednesday 14th June, four teams travelled in ‘hope rather than expectation’ to the IFA National Super 7s Tournament at Mallusk. There were commendable
performances from the U15 A team and Under 13 Bs. The U13 A team narrowly lost out to the ‘giants’ of Assumption Grammar.
All hope of success rested on the Under 15 B team, who had been robbed of all their subs by the Barcelona sunshine! Unperturbed they called upon their
‘inner Leicester’ and did their best impression of the ‘Magnificent Seven’. They topped their group and won their quarter final on penalties. Unfortunately
the dream ended there, as they lost the semi final to a star studded Parkhall team who themselves went on to lift the title.
The U15 B team can always say they had boldly gone where no CGS team had gone before and know that ‘McCracken’s Crackers’ will go down in the annals
of CGS sporting history!
