A proud day for CGS rowers at Commercial Regatta Dublin. This was all about the 42 athletes that represented the school with honour when competing
at the highly competitive Commercial Regatta. Many aspects of the day were pleasing from the seven athletes competing in there very first race
through to the comprehensive victory of the girls junior 16 eight. All crews rowed with style and good technique and whilst gold medals went
to the girls junior 14 and 15 quad sculls and 16 eight , huge performances were put in by the boys 16 quad losing out in the final and the
boys 15 and 16 eights being narrowly beaten in heats by the eventual winners of the category. It was tremendous to see so many parents travelling
to Dublin to support their children, meeting equally proud parents from all over Ireland. As I look at the photos of the happy smiling girls
eight if they had to write a thank you speech it would be like an Oscars ceremony thanking volunteer rowing coaches, strength and conditioning
coach, circuits coach, running coach, fund raisers, sponsors and maybe even a mention for parents. The rowers do all the sweat and tears but
there is almost a formula one team behind each crew. A big thank you to everyone a great start to the season. Mr Johnston.
