Pupil Guidance on Face Coverings
On 25 August the Department of Education in Northern Ireland changed its guidance about face coverings in schools, and stated that ‘it is recommended that
pupils and teachers wear a face covering in corridors and other communal areas of post-primary schools.’
pupils and teachers wear a face covering in corridors and other communal areas of post-primary schools.’
Coleraine Grammar School is therefore amending its face covering guidance for pupils as follows, effective from 1 September.
- Pupils are to wear plain face coverings in corridors and other communal areas of both campuses. This is to include the beginning and end of school,
transition times when pupils are moving between classes, break and lunch times in the indoor spaces for each protective bubble and Year Group,
and in the canteens. - When pupils are eating/drinking at break and lunch in the canteens or indoor areas, as much social distancing from one another as is practically possible
should be maintained. When pupils have finished eating/drinking at break and lunch, they should wear a face covering if they remain in an indoor
area. - Pupils are not required to wear face-coverings when they are outdoors.
- If a parent/carer would rather that their son or daughter does not wear a face-covering, please contact the pupil’s Pastoral Leader for further discussion,
for example if there are medical or other reasons for not wearing a face-covering.
