BBC Broadcasting House, Belfast
One of the exciting things about studying GCSE Journalism is the opportunities to visit places like the BBC to see the professionals at work and
get a glimpse behind the scenes of the famous studio that we see on our TVs daily. On the 21st June the Yr11 Journalism class got
to do just that with a private tour of the studios in Linen Hall Street.
The group were taken up to the Gallery where the director, producer and their team control the news broadcast. We then went to the continuity room
where an individual ensures that everything runs smoothly and provides the voiceover between shows as required.
Next up was a peep inside the Radio Ulster studios. Unfortunately, Hugo Duncan was out on an Outside Broadcast but we heard how bulletins and packages
were produced which will help us with our controlled assessment in this area next year!
Of course no trip to Belfast is complete with the obligatory stop at Applegreen for a Chopstix…
