“Gun and Knives Ruin Lives” PSNI Armed Response Unit presentation to Year 11.
The PSNI Armed Response Unit gave an interesting and informative presentation to Year 11 on “Gun and Knives Ruin Lives”.This highly interactive
and engaging session is designed to help raise awareness of the implications of Knife and Gun related incidents and allow young people to make
the right choices. The presentation was delivered by operational Armed Response Officers who are also qualified trainers, which allowed them
to share personal, real life events and the consequences for all, including the officers, the individuals, the families and the communities
involved.
The Thomas Devlin family who lost a son through knife crime in Belfast agreed to participate in the presentation and contributed to a highly emotive
video to speak on the real tragedy of losing a close family member to knife crime.
We thank the Armed Response unit for taking the time to speak with our Year 11 pupils. We also thank Constable Val Black from Coleraine Neighbourhood
Policing Team for liaising with the school and the Armed Response Unit to facilitate this presentation.
