Hans Sloane & Sloane McClay Awards
The Sloane McClay Awards ceremony, which recognises Northern Ireland’s top achievers in Biology, Chemistry, Physics & Mathematics, was held in
Friday 4th January in the Ulster Museum. Dr. Carruthers & Mrs Reid (Head of Chemistry Department) were present to see one
of our Year 13 pupils receive his award for GCSE Chemistry from Almac’s Professor Tim Harrison.
Both Sir Hans Sloane and Sir Allen McClay were inspired by science in different ways. Their work and values will inspire generations that
follow through their passion and commitment to science and the benefits they left to society. They both used their time and wealth to help
others and were recognised for their contributions to the world of healthcare.
