The annual CGS Girls’ Soccer 7’s took place on Tuesday at the Lodge Road. 21 teams, including 4 from CGS, took part in the U13 Competition.
A series of competitive group fixtures were followed by the knock out rounds. Unusually no penalty shot outs were required, as the goals flew in with regularity.
The final was contested by Dalriada and Ballymoney High. The latter were undoubtedly the dominant team in the competition and it was unsurprising that Ballymoney High finished 4-1 winners, retaining the title they won last year.
All great teams need a goal scorer, and one of the Ballmoney players bagged 16 goals in 7 matches, winning the ‘Golden Boot’ trophy.
Thanks to all who participated on the day, and the Year 10 Girls who helped with the smooth(ish) running of the competition.
Thanks too, to David McDonald, who took all the pictures as the event unfolded.
