Carlow Rowing Success

A report on the Carlow Rowing Regatta.

Carlow, Rowing, camping and so much more! What a tremendous weekend a huge thank you to the hospitality of Carlow rowing and particularly Michael who
allowed his back garden to be turned into a mini Glastonbury without talented singers! These trips are all about learning, the dawn chorus is for
birds not hyper active rowers. Pop up tents do not pop down easily and sleep deprivation is a form of torture. That said all our rowers socialised
with like minded athletes from around Ireland once the accent barrier was overcome. The actual rowing was equally as successful as all other aspects
of the weekend CGS won ten separate boat classes with 28 athletes bringing home 39 medals. Not everyone won a medal and those few unlucky athletes
showed real resilience and sportsmanship, their day will come. Among many great successes my favourites were the boy and girl junior 14 scullers
winning their first single scull medals and the boys junior 15 eight winning an epic battle against Fermoy a testament to all the hard work put
in by coaches Ross and Jamie.

A big thanks to all the parents that assisted in making the weekend possible.

Another weekend when CGS rowers behaved impeccably, well done.
