A Level History Trip to Dublin

Year 14 historians' trip to Dublin on Friday 10th March.

On Friday 10th March, CGS Year 14 historians (accompanied by Mr Frew, Mrs McCurdy and Mrs Taggart) embarked upon their tour of Dublin. On our trip
we visited, Collins Barracks, Kilmainham Jail, GPO and Dublin Castle. All of which had great significance for the A2 course we are currently studying.
We saw the “Asgard” yacht that carried the IVF guns to Howth, we saw the bullet holes in the pillars of the GPO from the Easter Rising, we saw
the cells the leaders of the Rising were held in and the yard they were executed in. As one pupil said, “I can’t believe I was writing an essay
about all these characters yesterday and now we are here where they staged the Easter Rising or were imprisoned!”

The pupils were a pleasure to take on this trip and we all had an enjoyable day out (with a few snack stops along the way)!
