Coleraine Grammar School v Friends’ School Lisburn Saturday 21st January – Match Report
Saturday morning saw the start of Coleraine Grammar School’s eagerly awaited Cup campaign. Friends’ School Lisburn the venue on a near perfect Saturday
morning.
Early attacking pressure from Friends’ was dealt with by an aggressive Coleraine defence. Rewarded with a turnover, the Coleraine side made Friends’ pay.
Daniel McCreedie making the break in the midfield before quick recycled ball from the forwards led to a James Milsopp try. Conversion missed.
10 minutes later it was the Coleraine side who scored again. After massive lineout pressure by the outstanding Peter Wisener, Hugo Mawhinney latched on
to a loose ball which he turned into an excellent individual try, beating three defenders in the process.
Just before the halftime whistle a poor exit from Coleraine resulted in a Friends’ penalty. The goal kicker made no mistake in adding the 3 points. Halftime

First points in the second half where awarded to the home side with the Friends’ backline showing great hands to score a well worked try with 15 minutes
left on the clock. Conversion successful.
This proved to be the last points of the match. Further pressure by both teams in opposition territory could not be converted into point. A highly entertaining
fixture finished Friends’ School Lisburn 10- 10 Coleraine Grammar School. CGS Man of the match Peter Wisener and Hugo Mawhinney. The replay is scheduled
for Wednesday 25th January, 2:30pm at Coleraine Grammar School and all support would be greatly appreciated!
