Six of our pupils recently took part in the Ulster Age Group Swimming Championships in the 50m Bangor swimming pool. This is the highlight of age group
swimming in Ulster and the swimmers have had to compete at various qualification galas in order to qualify for this prestigious event.

We are very pleased to note that all 6 CGS swimmers entered came away with Ulster medals.

One of our Year 11 pupils retained her 100m Ulster Breaststroke Champion title for the 4th year in succession after achieving a new personal
best time. Unfortunately, she was unable to compete in the 200m breaststroke event later in the weekend to defend her title for the 3rd year in a row due to school rowing commitments when she travelled with her rowing team to Limerick to compete at the Irish Schools Rowing Championships.

Her brother, in Year 8, with a new 5 second PB, won a silver medal in the boys 100m breaststroke which improved on the bronze medal he won in the same
event last year.

Four Year 8 boys, in various combinations with another boy from Damhead Primary School won two bronze medals in the freestyle and medley relays which continued
the success two members of this relay team had at the Irish Schools finals in Dublin in February 2017, where they came 3rd in Ireland. All
four year 8 CGS swimmers achieved personal best times in their leg of the relays to take over 6 seconds off the medley relay and over 10secs in the
freestyle relay.

Well done to all 6 pupils who achieved fantastic results at the Ulster Championships.
