U16 Footballers Win The Irish Society League

A report on the U16 Irish Society League Final.

The U16 boys met Loreto in the final of the Irish society league on Wednesday 24th February 2016.

The normal nervous start was clearly replaced with a confidence and a will to get the job done. An early free kick 25 yards left the Loreto goal keeper
wondering where the ball was. 1-0 to Coleraine Grammar School.

Constant pressure from the midfield and forwards made for a dangerous run into the Loreto box and the defender had no option but to bring our player
down. The penalty was slotted home. 2-0.  A slight loss of concentration left too much room at the back prior to half time and Loreto pulled
one back. However, there was an immediate response from the team and a superb run and goal by Coleraine Grammar School showed Loreto that CGS were
not about to let them back into the game. 3-1 at half time.

The second half started with a more determined display from Loreto in the midfield and their pressure led to another goal but once again CGS got their
heads down and a tactical change in midfield paid dividends, moving the score on to 4-2 to Coleraine Grammar School.  Some last minute attempts
almost increased the gap again but these were denied by the woodwork.  Final score Coleraine Grammar School 4 – 2 Loreto College.

The boys would like to thank all those that supported them both at the match and throughout the year.
